Jurassic World: Explore & Roar @ Universal Studios Singapore

[Media Invite]

You must be living in a cave if you have not heard of the new dinosaur attractions over at Universal Studios Singapore that is happening right now, and all the way till 22 Aug 2018. Now is the best time to fully utilize your annual pass, or to get one since it is the school holidays! The theme park is definitely not new, but the following three setups are!

Jurassic World: Roar!

As you walk into the park, you will notice this new stage set up right at the end of Hollywood. This is where the show will take place. Take note of the show times, especially for those with little ones, you will need to come early for good views because everyone will be standing and there will be little chance for the kiddos to catch the show unless you hoist them on your shoulders. Would be great if the staff can advise those in front to sit down or at least allow the kiddos to stand in the front. Highlight would have to be T-Rex towards the end. There is also a photo opportunity and the queue starts from the left, facing the stage. So there you have it, you know where to stand now do you?

Jurassic Encounter

Now as you turn right and walk down along the streets of New York, you will reach the giant screen where the kiddos can interact with the dinosaurs in safety! This is a giant interactive screen where the kiddos can have some fun seeing themselves walking amongst the giant reptiles.

Raptor Training School

Next, get to the area between Far Far Away and The Lost World for your lessons in training Velociraptors! Kiddos are welcomed to register for one of the four classes daily. But take note that there are only limited spaces for each session, hence I would highly recommend that you register your kiddos the moment you get into the park to avoid disappointment. I only managed to snag one LAST spot for Leroy and the rest of my kiddos were not able to join in.

Leroy said it was cool, despite knowing it was a human inside. Hee hee...

Cold Storage Run 2018

[Media Invite]

Do you feel that there are runs organised in Singapore almost every month? Sometimes even multiple runs on certain months? But the items in the goodie bags kept shrinking? That was how I felt but not with the goodie bag from Cold Storage Run 2018 which we took part recently on 20th May. Just look at the goodie bag, not too bad right?

We took part in the 800m Fruity Family Run which was really easy on these old legs of mine, and short enough not to turn the kiddos grouchy or constantly asking when it is going to end! Personally I feel that the run for all the categories were pretty well-organized. Had been years that they have been organizing this anyway!

There are plenty of free activities for the the kiddos to take part in after the run too, but this time round we were not able to stay long as we had to go elsewhere. Lots of samples to try too!

The only grouse I have would be that I was always unable to get the correct t-shirt sizes for the kiddos when I do the online registrations! I admit I am always late but I think the organizers can try to provide more of the smaller sizes in future too. Just look at poor Louie!

Nevertheless, we are still loving Cold Storage Run, and we will surely be looking forward to next year's edition! Thank you for having us Cold Storage Kids Run!

Tech Saturday (Upsized!) 2018

My primary school going kiddos are already wearing smartwatches that allow them to make cashless payments in school for the food and school supplies, with the amount directly deducted through my account. And with the use of an app, I can track exactly what they have been up too and also need not fumble for small change every morning! The only thing constant is change itself and this is just one of the many new innovations available to consumers now. Can you imagine the numbers of new inventions that are not even in the market yet?

It was only last year that we attended Tech Saturday (Upsized!) 2017 for the very first time and now it is already in its fourth year. As a family, we had so much fun trying out the different new gadgets, and the kiddos especially loved creating new stuff with the 3D doodling pens. Of course, the movie screening, free popcorns and cotton candies were hot favourites with the crowd too! There was never a dull moment at the fair. Come 2 to 3 June 2018, I would personally recommend that you bring the entire family down to the exhibition at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre Hall 404 and 405 for a full day of learning and get a glimpse into the future, now. It opens from 11am – 7pm daily and best of all, admission is FREE!

For this year, Tech Saturday (Upsized!) 2018 will be segregated into 7 different zones, namely Live, Work, Learn, Play, Inspire, Invent and Marketplace. What is worth mentioning is that the innovative products and solutions that you will get to see in the Live and Work zones, are all proudly made in Singapore!

Live Zone

One of the innovations that piqued my interest would have to be the Ospicon’s SafetoSleep-ST200 baby wellness monitoring mat. It really pains me to see my little Starri hooked up numerous wires to monitor her heartbeat and oxygen level when she was just a few days old and unable to carry her properly. With this battery operated fiber optics sensor that can detect new born and preemies breathe count accurately and non-invasively, it will really the stress and anxiety off caring for the little one as an app will sound an alarm whenever any irregularity is detected.

Parents of furkids are also not forgotten. Some may be satisfied with watching their babies via IP cameras installed at home, but now with Pebby, one can even track, monitor and play with their pet anywhere in the world. Connect to this robotic ball via WiFi and you can interact and even entertain your pets even if you are not present. And of course, watch and capture all the cute moments too!

Work Zone

Now ultra-realistic Immersive Technology is no longer just available in the realms of the sci-fi movies but is available in real life. Learning through Play Making - From Augmented Reality to building and construction with technology-enabled toys, learn how these emerging technology that is age-appropriate can help young learners to learn educational knowledge and skills through interactive play and create positive mind set of learning which is crucial in their growing up process as a learner.

Tech Talk – There will also be sharing of experiences by awe-inspiring speakers as they touch on topic such as gaming, raising digital natives and content creation at the Main Stage. As a parent, I will definitely be looking out for the talk by Vivian Kwek, Founder of Decoding Your Child and Life Coach, who also happens to be the mother of a teenage girl who was groomed online where she will be sharing useful tips on the warning signs to watch out for and how to balance online dangers with the opportunities that the digital age offers.

Play Zone

Drone Obstacle Racing – Drone photography are no longer "news" but have you experienced First Person View (FPV) experience with drones? Now you can work together with your kids to navigate a drone through a race scene course with hoops .

Digital Graffiti Wall – No worries about having to take care of the aftermath of the kiddos’ art sessions because this interactive installation allows one to spray grafitti onto the display wall using a 3D-printed spray can that feels and sounds like a real one. No breaking of the law, vandalising the wall or harming of health, but 100% fumes-free, easily erasable with the touch of a button and also 100% legal!

Star Wars Jedi Challenge – Star Wars Day just passed but that doesn’t mean that one cannot be a Jedi in June! So go one and don the headset, grab a lightsabre and immerse yourself in Lenovo’s Star Wars Jedi Challenge Augmented Reality experience.

Inspire Zone

Autonomous Transporter by SP - In collaboration with SICK Product Center Asia Pte Ltd, the Autonomous Transporter is planned to be deployed in public indoor facility where it provides personal transportation to public users, especially the elderly and reduce long walking distance. It is not just an electronic vehicle, but one that can perform navigation and move to specified destination with its navigation and anti-collision sensors to cater for static and human traffic.

Invent Zone

With over 50 tech and media workshops catering to all ages from preschools to the Silver Generation, there is definitely something for everyone! Check out the following samplers of workshops that the little ones can get to participate in based on their age group, as well as others that parents and adults can join in too!

Circus 1903 in 2018

[Media Invite]

We caught the circus last Thursday and I had actually wanted to post this up much earlier but who would have guessed that I would be down with stomach flu for the past 4 days? In any case, you still have this weekend to catch this entertaining family-friendly act before it ends its run on Sunday, 29 April 2018. 5 more shows to go!

To be absolutely honest, if you scrutinize each of the individual acts, they would not look THAT unfamiliar to you. But the real gem would have to be the funny ringmaster, who managed to work the crowd and get everyone from the young to the old, laughing at his jokes and antics. Kids will also be asked to volunteer on stage to take part in the show and he is really the entertainer. I give him a thumbs up for his ability to turn all the different reactions of the kids into super hilarious moments.

I was really more interested in finding out how the largest elephant puppet looked like and worked and I was not disappointed. The mammoth puppet looked really lifelike and lots of practice must have gone into perfected the giant's every move. Our family enjoyed the circus very much, and thank you BASE Entertainment for bringing over such an entertaining performance and inviting us over for it!

Only 2 more days and 5 more shows before they really wave goodbye!

Woohoo WoWo Wows!

[Giveaway]

I hadn't been taking good care of my oily hair and skin since young. I had been bleaching my hair as and when I liked and washing my face only whenever I remembered. Well the effects are quite evident now. My face is already beyond repair but experiencing bad hair days on work days are the worst. I either had to use lots of hair gel, or get a quick shampooing just to get the hair under control.

However recently I received a range of WoWo products as a gift to try out. For someone like me who is lazy and don't really bother about "beauty", I thought there was no harm trying? I mean my condition would not get much worst anyway. So try I did, but I only used the body gel and shampoo for the past 2-3 months. I was too lazy to apply the hair mask and other lotion. Initially the shower gel seemed difficult to work up a lather as it produced less suds than my usual body foam but I got used to it soon. What's great about this shower gel is that it smells really nice and it leaves a silky feeling after I dry up from the shower.

I have oily scalp and dandruffs. At times, using off-the-shelves anti-dandruff shampoo does work at controlling the white flakes but it often dries out my hair and makes styling a chore (even though I do not have much style lah). Since using WoWo Hair Shampoo, I realized that to comb and get presentable enough for work in the morning took me less than 5 minutes for me these days. My hair remained soft and manageable after sleeping in the air-con room. I also hardly see dandruffs and also noticed lesser hair on the cover of my drain trap too!

With Mother's Day coming up really soon, I was thinking that maybe you would like to pamper your mother, wife or maybe even yourself a little! So we are giving away a full set of hair series products (shampoo, mask, serum) to one lucky reader who completes the following steps before the end of Fri, 11 May 2018 -

Kampung Fun Fair At Waterway Point

[Media Invite]

We popped by last week on a weekend with Steffi and Leroy who enjoyed themselves so much. Brought Stacci along too but she was totally exhausted by the time we reached and she slept throughout! Hence we went AGAIN over the last weekend so that Stacci and Louie can have some fun too at the carnival!

The dining crowd over at the mall is ridiculous. We had to wait over an hour and a half just to get a seat for my family over at Ichiban last weekend. I seriously doubt the mall needed any more promotions, but they are having a Kampung Fun Fair right now over at The Plaza, Basement 1 and Village Square, L1. First 2000 shoppers daily who spends $50 at the mall gets to redeem a coupon set that includes $5 worth of credits for the amusement rides/game booths and a food coupon for three items redeemable at the Food Stalls. Go grab your free potong ice-cream and kacangs!

Redeem your vouchers from the customer service with $50 spent.

But take note that the fair will end next weekend, on Sun, 22 Apr 2018. If you are looking to win some toys for your kids at the fair, you may wish to try out some of those that requires skills ( that is if you have what it takes), otherwise I let you in on an open secret. There are 2 stations that with sure win prizes. One would be the fishing game at B1 while the other is the ball game at L1. Having said that, you should still check out what are the prizes before going for it because we realized that the prizes changed during our 2 visits, and the consolation prize at one of the stations was pretty lame for the price of $5 per try.

Try this fishing game for a sure win prize!
In any case I would also advise against going during the weekend because we felt as though a good half of the Punggol population shops and dines there on Saturdays and Sundays! You still have a couple of days to bring your kiddos there though and you should! Check out their website for more details on the fair and thanks for the invite Waterway Point, the kiddos had great fun!
