Family Visit to Gillman Barracks!

[Media Invite]

Wow! It had been years since I last visited the place and it was to some watering holes in the evenings. I do not even know what it is like at this place when the sun is up, so we paid the place a visit recently, just to find out more!

Playeum - The Children's Centre for Creativity

This creative space for kiddos located somewhere right inside of Gillman Barracks is currently having its third hands-on exhibition named "A World Full of Stories" right now. Never been here before but the feel I got when I first stepped into the place, is freedom. The freedom for the kiddos to explore, be themselves, create and be in their own elements, whatever it may be. They got an "taster" of what it will be like to tell their own stories as they explored the various interactive exhibits by various artists, drew their interpretation of "time" and also got to enjoy a storytelling session too.

Lock Route - Public Art at Gillman Barracks

We next went on a guided tour around the barracks, much like a recruit's route march, albeit at a super leisurely pace over a pretty short distance! The art installations are scattered all over the place with signs to tell you more about the art pieces and the artists behind them too. Would be nice to bring the kiddos around and explain to them a little about the ideas behind the creations and who knows that might just ignite the creativity they have in them!

Definitely not my first time at Timbre but it was my first at their outlet at Gillman Barracks. The thin crust duck pizza brought back some old memories of my past drinking days! But here it has definitely turned into a family place where the adults can chill with a glass of beer while keeping an eye on the young ones as they expand their energies on the bouncing castle and pirate ship! The more I think about it, the more it feels like a neverending children's birthday party over there every Sat and Sun with the Super Social BBQ going on! For the month of March, the theme is "Prince & Princess' and the kiddos can take part in crafting their own crowns or tiaras, get their faces painted or even dress up as princes and princesses!
