Sailing With Spider-Man!
You must be living in a cave if you have not heard of the latest animation, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse from Sony Pictures. The sneaks are already in the cinemas and we have already watched it twice! You are not alone if you had been wondering why there are so many different types of Spider-Man costumes donned by cosplayers. This animation may help shed some light and it is a great movie for kiddos and adults alike. The kiddos were so in luck again this time round as they got invited on a special cruise during the school holidays Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse theme by Genting Dream to Surabaya and North Bali!
Off we go, on a wonderful family bonding time, creating memories.
Loving how relaxing it was even before we set sail. And the scenery is great too!
Each of us received a Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse goodie bag which included a mask and a figurine!
Nice premiums for Spidey fans!
For safety reasons, each room can only accomodate 4 pax maximum BUT the entire family can fit into the spacious room without any problem!
They like to quarrel over who gets to brush first or second, but now they can ALL do it together before this spacious wash basin!
When the sofa bed is rolled out, my4 kiddos would be able to fit in!
Looks like quite a crowd in the room doesn't it?
What Spider-Man Activities to Expect?
All the usual fun activities you can find onboard the cruise on normal trips, are now turned into Superhero activities with Miles Morales, Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen on board the 6 days 5 nights cruising to Indonesia.
Meet and Greet
The kiddos got acquainted with the characters the moment the same day we got on board and we could see the excitement on everybody's' faces as they queued for their wefies and photos with the superheroes.
Everyone on board were introduced to the main characters of the animation.
And of course we needed the compulsory photo with the characters!
Superhero Training Fitness Challenge
Check out the timings for the challenge while you are on the cruise. Take part in the 4 activities listed in the challenge and get premiums such as stickers and figurines after completion.
The superheros will be around while you complete the challenge and you can get all the photos you want with them here!
Grab a challenge sheet and be your own superhero too!
Fun activities with your favourite Miles Morales.
Overcome your fear of heights!
Get your premiums upon completion of the challenges!
Spider-Man Party
This is probably the only time that the kiddos can party in Zouk, and the only time anyone gets to disco dance and play games with Miles and Peter on board the cruise. Kiddos will definitely love the intimate session with their superheroes for sure!
They danced, they played and they posed!
Look how happy Leroy was!
High Tea with Spider-Man
Look how fun it was when Peter popped by for high tea with everyone!
The pastries all looked too good to be eaten! But they are as delicious as they looked!
Weird photo... because Louie was actually trowing a tantrum!
Spider-Man Storytelling
The younger kids can enjoy storytelling sessions along with their Superheroes. Nope, the Superheroes are not the ones telling the stories because it is not going to be easy with their full masks on! But instead they will stay around and entertain the little ones.
Pastries!
Okay this is technically not an activity but I simply had to mention that there were lots of Spider-Man inspired food around! Just take a look at the photos I captured of some of them!
What's New?
There were a lot of things new for us because we did not have the time to try out stuff during our previous cruise trip. Stuff like table-tennis, basketball and getting ourselves velcroed onto the big inflatable!
So I tried it first and it was hilarious!
Seeing how fun it was, even my wife and the girls decided to join in! Lol!
Sonio – A Tale of Two Dreams
Do you love acrobats and magic? Or pretty dancers or handsome hunks? Maybe beautiful vocals and grandiose sets? Well, this brand new show has it all! The huge LED backdrop really makes the difference as it created magic with the awesome graphics. A show not to be missed while you are on board for sure!
Live singing on the left while the dangerous stunt was performed.
Eye candy for the guys.
Eye candy for the ladies.
Halal Section at The Lido
We were informed that Genting Dream had recently received Halal certification from the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) for the dedicated Halal buffet section at The Lido. Now our Muslims friends can dine without any worries on board the only cruise line to offer this dining option in this region. Food sedap also ok!
Shore Excursions Surabaya
This was basically a cruise to Indonesia where we got to visit Surabaya for the very first time. The ship was docked at the port and we just had to walk right out of the port and onto our coach. One can also easily grab a taxi to get to the shopping centres for 3 - 4 hours of shopping. The shopping there is reminiscent of our Paragon or Sogo, with lots of branded stuff and we ended up at the supermarket instead. A&W root beer float was definitely welcomed too!
Walking together to our chartered coach to the city shopping area. One can also get a taxi from the port.
Our coach for the day!
Some events at the atrium and we though the backdrop was not too bad.
North Bali
To get onto shore, we had to take the life vessels and we were welcomed by the locals in traditional costumes. This time round, we had a guided tour of the Temple Ulun Danu at Lake Bratan followed by lunch and a short visit to one of the traditional markets. Because of the long journey of almost 2hrs each way, this can be daunting for young children. We are fine with it though and managed to get some good photos.
Had to take the life vessel but the kiddos were happy with their idols.
Thoughtful welcome by the locals.
Our entertaining guide who can sing pretty well and dishes out meaningful stories too.
This scene is apparently on the 50,000 rupiah note.
It was a pretty long queue just to get this photo without any photobombers!
The local market, which I think is catered more for tourists with its rows of souvenirs and what nots.
Always hate it when holidays end so fast but we were glad to have met lovely people and made new friends on board the cruise during our short 5 nights. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories Genting Dream, I know I will dream of you every now and then! We hope to see everyone again soon!
