Skechers Friendship Walk 2018

We do take part in quite a number of runs on and off but you know, we usually end up walking because with 4 little ones and a baby in tow, to really run would be quite a feat! Besides yours truly can't really run too. To be really honest, I was even having second thoughts about taking part in the inaugural Skechers Friendship Walk 2018 two weekends back because I had to bring the 4 kiddos on my own.

Fun with friends!

First, my wife was not able to participate as she had some work exigencies to attend to, leaving me with 4 kiddos again. I was also still nursing a knee injury which hurts quite badly when I move around, but thankfully it was a walk and not a run. And the worst was having to message Stacci's phonics teacher to request for her to be excused from her class. Arghhh.... the decision was so hard to make!

Warm ups before the walk.

In any case we made our way to the running site which was Gardens By The Bay East and it was not exactly the most accessible location by public transport unless you take Grab or cab. In fact I do not think it should be called Gardens By The Bay East but should be renamed "Far Faraway Land Overlooking GBTB" instead!

Look at those huge Skecher shoe mascots!

But I was still glad we made it to the meaningful walk with our friends, because the organizers had taken great care to ensure that all the young and old in the family can have fun with the many activities before and after the walk, and can redeem an umbrella after the games as well. It was also the first time we met the walking shoe mascots and they even came with lights too, just like our real Skechers shoes!

Beautiful scenery, comfortable wear!

Great view isn't it?

But the heavens opened up before the official flag off time and we really wondered if the walk would be cancelled or not. But nope, despite the delayed starting time and slight drizzle, everyone was still enthusiastic with their open umbrellas! Talk about having useful game prizes! Loving how this walk celebrate friendship, which was really apt as we basically walked together with our friends and family, and helped raised funds for Sunbeam Place, a residential home for the Children’s Society as well!

Special deals at the Skecher booth.

Basically a giveaway!

Quite a few games for the kiddos and adults alike to try.

There were fun inflatables along the really scenic route for the kiddos to enjoy and it was one of the rare occasions that they did not complain much about aching legs. Maybe its because of the company they had or perhaps its their really comfortable Skechers shoes! There were great deals at the Skechers booth as well and they were basically giving out free gifts for anyone who follows them on social media.

Good walk with friends!

Completed the run in the end and everyone got their medals. Families settled down in inflatable bags under the flyover and wound down for the day, catching Black Panther on the very big screen. Thank you so much for having us at the walk Skechers, it would have been perfect if not for the rain but that is not withing anyone's control I guess.

The medal tasted nice. :)
